Our return to school tomorrow coincides with an exciting celestial event: the “Great North American Eclipse!” In Raleigh, the partial eclipse will begin at 1:43 PM, reach its maximum between 3:07 PM and 3:20 PM, and end at 4:22 PM.
This partial eclipse is a rare and awe-inspiring occurrence that provides an opportunity to reflect upon our place in the cosmos. To mark this event, we will be teaching eclipse-related science lessons and observing the eclipse safely using pinhole projections or certified solar eclipse glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 international safety standard. If you have any questions or concerns about these activities, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
As the maximum eclipse coincides with our afternoon carpool, we understand that you may wish to pick up your children early to experience the eclipse together or avoid potential disruptions. We will be prepared to accommodate early sign-outs throughout the afternoon. Please note that afternoon carpool may be delayed due to the eclipse, so we recommend allowing extra time for pickup.
To ensure the safety of our students and staff during the eclipse, we will provide proper supervision and guidance on safe viewing practices. We strongly discourage students from looking directly at the sun without proper eye protection, as this can cause permanent eye damage.

Nuestro regreso a la escuela mañana coincide con un emocionante evento celestial: ¡el “Gran Eclipse de América del Norte”! En Raleigh, el eclipse parcial comenzará a la 1:43 PM, alcanzará su máximo entre las 3:07 PM y las 3:20 PM, y terminará a las 4:22 PM.
Este eclipse parcial es un acontecimiento raro y asombroso que nos brinda la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre nuestro lugar en el cosmos. Para conmemorar este evento, enseñaremos lecciones de ciencias relacionadas con el eclipse y observaremos el eclipse de manera segura utilizando proyecciones de agujeros o gafas de eclipse solar certificadas que cumplen con el estándar internacional ISO 12312-2. Si tiene alguna pregunta o inquietud sobre estas actividades, no dude en comunicarse con el maestro de su hijo.
Como el eclipse máximo coincide con nuestro transporte escolar de la tarde, entendemos que es posible que desee recoger a sus hijos temprano para experimentar el eclipse juntos o evitar posibles interrupciones. Estaremos preparados para acomodar salidas temprano durante toda la tarde. Tenga en cuenta que el transporte escolar de la tarde puede retrasarse debido al eclipse, por lo que recomendamos permitir tiempo extra para recoger a sus hijos.
Para garantizar la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal durante el eclipse, proporcionaremos supervisión adecuada y orientación sobre prácticas seguras de observación. Desaconsejamos encarecidamente que los estudiantes miren directamente al sol sin la protección ocular adecuada, ya que esto puede causar daños oculares permanentes.
