Dear ROCS Families,

I hope your summer is being filled with plenty of opportunities for relaxation and restoration! After the teacher workdays the building became quieter, but we were no less busy with tying up loose ends from last school year and making plans for next year.

I wanted to touch base with you about our planning for the beginning of next year:

  • Parent survey: Your feedback is very valuable to helping us plan and prioritize for next year and beyond. Please consider filling out the survey: click here for the link. You’ll notice an opportunity to serve on a Parent Advisory Group which would serve as a liaison between parents and school administration, facilitating two-way communication about school-wide issues. I hope you’ll consider joining!
  • Non-returning students: if you are not planning on returning to ROCS, we will be sad to see you leave our community, but understand that needs and circumstances change. In order to register at another school (even an approved home school), please complete the process that withdraws your child(ren) from ROCS. Please download and complete the Withdrawal Form and email it to Ms. Cooper (jcooper@raleighoakcharter.org).
  • We are thoughtfully compiling school supplies lists that are as budget-friendly as possible, and will make those available to you as soon as possible. Stay tuned!
  • Other events such as grade-level socials will be communicated soon!
  • Lastly, here’s a link to our 2024-2025 calendar, which will align closely with WCPSS this year. School starts on Tuesday, August 27 for 1st-8th. Kindergarten families: “Staggered Entry,” if you have not experienced it before, is a period during which your child will attend school for one assigned half-day between Aug. 27-29. Class lists will be made during those days, and you will then be invited to a special Meet the Teacher night on Aug. 30 to meet your child’s teacher..

Thank you for your continued support of the ROCS community, and enjoy your summer break!

Dr. J
