Dear Raleigh Oak Charter School Community,
I am honored to introduce myself to you as ROCS’ Executive Director. As an educator with over 30 years of experience in a wide variety of school settings, I am thrilled to join this unique community that so closely aligns with my professional and personal values. Professionally, I have been committed to embodying my deep belief in the potential of every child, and I look forward to bringing The ROCS 8 to life together with you.
Personally, my roots are in New Jersey, but I have been a Raleigh resident for over three decades. My wife and I are the proud parents of two daughters who attended Wake County’s public schools and North Carolina’s public colleges – they kept us busy with all the activities you can imagine for children growing up in this area. We maintain an extensive garden that includes hundreds of species of plants, including enough edible varieties that we grow most of our own vegetables. This respect for nature and an ongoing love of the arts represent core values of a Waldorf education, and it is these shared values that bring me to Raleigh Oak Charter School.
Before closing, I would like to share a bit of good news. As you know, we had an air conditioning issue earlier in the week. I am happy to report that the issue has been resolved for all but one classroom, and that class will be able to relocate to an empty room that has air conditioning. Many thanks to the ROCS community for mobilizing immediate support for the affected teachers and students, and for finding the right resources to resolve the problem – great work, team.
I will mostly be conducting meetings with Board and staff from home this week, but will regularly be on ROCS’ campus starting Monday morning. You can expect more communications from me soon, including opportunities for us to meet in person. I’m looking forward to connecting with all of you in the near future!
